10 Things Every Golfer Should Do
From Golf Digest (Aug 2005), some things to do before turning in your last scorecard.
- Play as a single - meet golfers from all walks of life.
- Go on golf-only trip.
- Play all day, until too dark to see. Tee off at sunrise and play until sunset.
- Dedicate 2 months to a part of the game you hate the most.
- Win something - enter a tournament, competition, etc. Pressure of playing for something is thrilling.
- Play in bad weather, where you're just about the only group left on the course.
- Make a hole-in-one (obviously need some luck), hit 300 yd drive, drive a short par 4, shoot your age, make an eagle... some personal best you aren't likely to repeat
- Play at the TPC Stadium course at Sawgrass. Where the Players Championship is, home of the island 17th green.
- Watch Tiger Woods and Annika Sorenstam play in person.
- Watch the Masters (or at least a practice round) in person.
- play the entire course with a sand-wedge (or some other club)
- play in a Pro-Am with a pro you actually recognize
- play reverse-handed for 9 holes
- play a seaside course and for the hell of it, blast a ball out into the ocean
- call in sick to play 18 holes
- sleep in your car to earn a tee time
